Planted is an all-vegan magazine that focuses heavily on farmed animal protection. Each issue includes feature articles about vegan people, places and events; Q&As with vegan activists, volunteers, entrepreneurs, bloggers and chefs; plant-based recipes; touching animal rescue tales; and columns by prominent vegans. Planted Magazine: Michigan has been around since 2014. Last year they decided to bring it to Chicago.
I was hired as their photographer to cover the story about Soul Veg City’s remodel and relaunch. I took some food photography as well as portraits of the co-owner. The photo I took of their specialty dish made it onto the magazine cover. The best part was all of the food she gave me to take home! Their veggie ribs, greens, and mac and cheese is absolutely amazing. Check out their menu and stop by there for some incredible food.
I have been working with magazines for over ten years, including PR Week, Martha Stewart Living, and the Illinois Bar Journal. My experience with portraiture, food photography, event photography, and reportage photography enables me to quickly capture photos that best tell a story. I am available for assignments in Chicago or wherever you need a story told.
