Cover of Illinois Bar Journal

The Illinois Bar Journal contacted me to take some portraits and headshots of the new Illinois State Bar Association president. He had some very photogenic locations in his office for this nice environmental portrait for the cover and accompanying story in the magazine. I have photographed for the Illinois State Bar many times and am always grateful for their interesting assignments.

Magazine Assignments

I have been fortunate over the years to have been selected to photograph the covers of several magazines, including Planted Magazine, Cancer Center Treatment of America, and the Illinois Bar Journal. A magazine photography cover assignment is an exciting opportunity to showcase my portrait skills and creativity. Being chosen to shoot the cover of a magazine is a great honor and can provide valuable exposure for both the myself and the subject. I have also photographed many assignments for other magazines like Martha Stewart Living and Chicago Social. I love this style of photography because it lets my environmental portrait skills shine. Environmental portraits are a unique and creative form of photography that captures individuals in their natural surroundings. Unlike traditional studio portraits, environmental portraits aim to tell a story about the subject by incorporating elements of their environment into the composition, which is exactly what is needed to accompany a magazine’s story. One of the key benefits of environmental portraits is that they provide a more authentic and relatable representation of the subject. By placing them in a familiar or meaningful setting, the photograph can convey a sense of their personality, interests, or profession.
