Cover Photo for Cancer Treatment Centers of America

Magazine Assignment

Cancer Treatment Centers of America did a cover story on Dr. Karen Smorowski, a cancer survivor treating her fellow patients. I took some portraits both inside and outside the facility to accompany the story. Makeup by Julie Kleidon.

Business Portraits

When magazine editors contact me, they are usually looking for environmental portraits to accompany an upcoming story. My specialty is capturing people in their environment in order to visually tell their story.

When it comes to environmental portrait photography, there are several key elements to consider. First and foremost, it's important to create a comfortable and relaxed environment for the subject. This helps them feel at ease and allows their true personality to shine through in the photographs. Another important aspect of business portrait photography is the use of lighting and composition. Lighting plays a crucial role in setting the mood and highlighting the subject's features. Whether it's natural light or artificial lighting, as the photographer I must have a good understanding of how to manipulate light to create the desired effect. Composition is also key in business portrait photography. I must carefully consider the placement of the subject within the frame, as well as any props or background elements that may be included. The goal is to create a visually appealing and professional image that accurately represents the individual and their brand.

In addition to technical skills, a successful business portrait photographer must also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. I must be able to connect with their subjects and make them feel comfortable in front of the camera. This helps to bring out their natural expressions and create authentic and engaging portraits. With a background in psychology and comedy, I have what it takes to make my subjects feel comfortable in front of the camera.

Overall, business portrait photography is a fascinating and rewarding field. It allows me to capture the essence of individuals in a professional setting and help them create a strong and memorable image to best tell their story. So whether you're a magazine or a business professional looking to update your photos, I can help bring your vision to life.
