Environmental Headshots Downtown

One of my regular corporate clients needed some photos of their new hires. They wanted some headshots in their downtown office with the Chicago skyline in the background. Most of their offices had beautiful views and I had some great options for showing a city backdrop. We even got lucky with a nice sunny day showing some great contrast on the buildings behind them. Looking forward to seeing these on their new website!

Environmental Headshots

Environmental headshots are a unique and creative form of photography that captures individuals in their natural surroundings. Unlike traditional studio portraits, environmental headshots aim to tell a story about the subject by incorporating elements of their environment into the composition. This style of photography is often used in editorial and documentary work, as well as for personal branding and corporate purposes.

One of the key benefits of environmental headshots is that they provide a more authentic and relatable representation of the subject. By placing them in a familiar or meaningful setting, the photograph can convey a sense of their personality, interests, or profession. For example, a CEO might be photographed in their Chicago downtown office, surrounded by books and awards, to showcase their expertise and success.

In addition to capturing the subject's personality, environmental headshots also allow for more creative expression and visual storytelling. The photographer can use elements of the environment, such as lighting, colors, and textures, to enhance the narrative and create a visually compelling image. For instance, a portrait of an artist could be taken in their art studio, with paintbrushes and canvases in the background, to convey their passion and creativity.
